Gun Street Vintage is a small vintage clothing shop, specializing in period lingerie, and located in beautiful Portland, Oregon. We’re fastidious, so you’ll find our items unique, rather than typical, and always in lovely condition. All intimates are gently laundered by hand and pressed before they take their place on our pages. Any exception to this rule will be made for highly collectable pieces, still partnered with their store tags, and will always be noted. We deal in items dating from the Edwardian era through the early 1970’s. If you’re looking for something special that you don’t see in our shop, please use the contact link and tell us what you’re after—we may have it in our collection, and if not, we love the thrill of the hunt! More than once we’ve been asked, “what’s with the gun theme,” or “is your shop actually on Gun Street.” The answer lies in an old nickname (bestowed upon our proprietress) that comes from Tom Waits's song Gun Street Girl, the story of a fairly fatale femme. Tom Waits knows never to kiss a gun street girl again, and you’d do well to heed his advice. Dames like that are nothing but trouble! That said, we like to limit our relationship with guns to celluloid. Our aforementioned proprietress, Regina, was born with Marilyn Monroe’s gift for paddleball and a weakness for stray animals. A Scorpio reared by a Virgo mother, she is both fiercely passionate and perfectionistic. She can often be heard muttering from her office, the details, the details. Regina knows things about fabrics, finishes and garment construction, as well as other things about flowers, birds, literary theory and graphic design. She is unaccustomed to speaking of herself in third person. When Regina isn't working on Gun Street, she's busy working on what will hopefully be regarded as a brilliant first manuscript. |
